Graduator

I built the Graduator as my third LOC kit, after the Nuke and the Bruiser.  Although it is fun to fly and looks good, the over-sized fins break easily.  Other than that, this is a fun kit.  I like it a lot because you can fly it on small H motors.  Read on to see what happens.

Flight #8, Turkey Shoot, November 2002

Well, the cloud cover wasn't going anywhere for now, and the lakebed was still tacky, but I wanted to fly something.  So a G33 in the Graduator was a natural choice.  It would be nice and low and smoky.  I put her on the pad and pushed the button.  Nothing.  We went back out to the pad with a HiRel, and this time it lit.  Graduator moved off the pad and into the air quickly.  After burnout, it popped the chute a little early.  No big deal- I wouldn't have to walk as far.  The new X-form chute with a swivel brought it right back down next to the pad.  A perfect flight for such a glum day. graduator_liftoff_g33.jpg (31985 bytes)

Flight #1, ROCStock VI, November 1997

This flight was in white primer on top, with the red booster as you see it today.  It had a good straight boost in medium winds.  Ejection was at apogee.  A nice flight all around.

Flight #6, August 2000

We put it on a close pad.  I counted down 5...4...3...2...1...launch and hit the button.  CHUFF!  The motor hiccupped and threw the rocket up the rod.  CHUFF! again.  CHU-CHUFF... BAM!  It took off with a deafening roar.  Too cool.  I love those Econojets.  Ejection was a little early, but the rocket survived fine and came down just a short walk away.
